This story follows Ella, a young woman who is forced to do chores for her cruel stepmother, Madame, while dreaming of a better life. This Broadway version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella is a contemporary retelling of the classic fairy tale that includes new characters, a funny book, and the beloved songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein.

ROLE BREAKDOWN

Cinderella – Female-presenting, 18–30s, soprano

Kind, thoughtful, intelligent, and resilient. Yearns for a better life without bitterness. Strong singer and actor with grace and warmth.

Topher – Male-presenting, 18–30s, baritone/tenor

The prince. Charming but naive; searching for purpose. Must show sincerity, strength, and humility. Strong vocals and romantic lead presence.

Marie / Fairy Godmother – Female-presenting, 30s–60s, soprano

A mysterious old woman who reveals herself as Cinderella’s magical guardian. Must balance eccentricity and wisdom. Requires strong vocals and comedic timing.

Madame – Female-presenting, 40s–60s, mezzo

Cinderella’s stepmother. Cruel, controlling, socially ambitious. Needs excellent comedic timing and strong presence.

Gabrielle – Female-presenting, 18–30s, mezzo

Stepsister. More sympathetic and kind-hearted than expected. Romantic subplot with Jean-Michel. Strong comedic and emotional range.

Charlotte – Female-presenting, 18–30s, mezzo

Stepsister. Loud, over-the-top, self-absorbed, and very funny. Strong comedic timing.

Jean-Michel – Male-presenting, 20s–30s, baritone

Revolutionary idealist. Intelligent, passionate, and awkward. Romantic interest for Gabrielle. Strong character actor.

Sebastian – Male-presenting, 40s–60s, baritone

Topher’s advisor. Manipulative and power-hungry. Needs sharp comic instincts and gravitas.

Lord Pinkleton – Any gender, 30s–50s, tenor/baritone

Royal herald. Announces royal events with flair. Strong vocals and diction.

Ensemble (Teens & Adults) – All voice parts, ages 15+

Includes townspeople, nobles, palace staff, and dancers. Featured solos and dance opportunities available.

Ensemble (Children) – Ages 8–14

Will appear as townspeople, animals, and attendees at the royal ball. Singing, movement, and stage presence required. Great opportunity for young performers to gain experience.

 

AUDITION INFO

GENERAL AUDITION GUIDELINES

  • All roles are available! Performers of all backgrounds and identities are encouraged to audition.
  • This is a non-equity, community theater production. However, all actors 16 years and older will receive a travel stipend. 
  • Please provide your music with you on a device. Bluetooth capabilities and an aux cord will be available. An accompanist will not be provided. 
  • Headshots and resumes may be uploaded on the audition form ahead of time.

  • All performances will take place at The Levoy Theatre, 130 High St N, Millville, NJ 08332.
  • Rehearsals will take place at The Levoy Theatre and The Levoy Arts & Education Center, 16 E Pine St, Millville, NJ 08332.
  • Be prepared to fill out a conflict sheet at auditions (be as specific as possible about conflicts.)

  • Please make sure you can fully commit to the rehearsal and performance schedules before auditioning.

  • Rehearsals will begin the week of August 18.
  • Rehearsals are tentatively scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. More may be added as necessary.

AUDITIONS: August 11 & 12, 6:30-9:30pm, by appointment at The Levoy Theatre, 130 N High St, Millville, NJ 08332

  • Prepare a song of your choice in the style of the show. 32 bars or 1-1/2 minutes is enough.

  • Please provide backing music with no vocals with you on a device. Bluetooth capabilities and an aux cord will be available. 
  • Dress for movement – dance and cold readings may also be part of the audition.
  • Fill out the audition form and choose a time-slot for your audition on the form below.
  • Plan to arrive at the theater at least 10 minutes before your audition time slot.

  • Walk-ins will be accepted between appointments as time allows, but priority will be given to appointments.
  • If you plan to show up, but don’t know what time, choose “walk-in” on the audition form so you can submit your form ahead of time.

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS: Accepted via the audition form below.

  • Video submissions will only be accepted via the audition form below. 

  • If you are called back from a video submission, you will still be expected to come to callbacks in-person.
  • Record a song of your choice in the style of the show. 32 bars or 1-1/2 minutes is enough. Please do not choose a song from Cinderella.

  • Please use backing music with no vocals for your recording.
  • Upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo as an unlisted video (make sure you can see the video via the link even when not logged in.)
  • Fill out the entire audition form below and enter the link to the video where asked.

CALLBACKS: August 13, 6:30-9:30pm, by invitation only at The Levoy Theatre, 130 High St N, Millville, NJ 08332

  • May include dance, readings from script, vocalization.
  • If you are called back for auditions, you will receive an email following auditions.
